Recently it’s been all over the news. A group of NFL players took it upon themselves to kneel during the national anthem in protest of continued racial injustice and police brutality.
I was so surprised! I’m a huge football fan, so of course I’m accustomed to seeing the star-spangled banner before every game, cheap nfl jerseys from china and to see players choosing to not honor it was something I hadn’t seen before.
At first, cheap nfl jerseys from china I didn’t really understand cheap nfl jerseys what was happening. After a lot of research (and with a heavy heart), wholesale nfl jerseys I learned that this brave move was to bring awareness to the ongoing inequality that minorities still suffer in America.
These players chose to use their platform to make change. Reports stated that between 8 and 11 NFL players knelt during the national anthem. It’s true that in other professional sports a much larger number of players knelt in protest, cheap jerseys but the number that knelt on NFL sidelines was still impressive.
I remember feeling a combination of admiration and sadness, admiration for cheap jerseys those players that were willing to speak out against injustice and cheap jerseys from china sadness for having the injustice they were protesting this exist in the first place.
But the protests didn’t stop there. In the ensuing years, cheap jerseys from china the players who knelt during the national anthem have evolved their cause. The “I Can’t Breathe” movement, cheap nfl jerseys and the Black Lives Matter movement have been added to the list of reasons for kneeling.
I’ll never forget the story of one of these players, who donated millions to the cause, setting up programs to hire minority police and fire department staff, and raising money to create grassroots initiatives to bridge the gap between police and communities of color.
I am still amazed by how much these athletes have done. Beyond protesting during the anthem, they have raised awareness on a global level, and used their financial resources to create programs that aim to benefit minority communities.
The most impressive thing is that the supporters of these players are more than just regular NFL fans. Business executives, cheap jerseys from china celebrities, and even politicians have voiced their support for these courageous individuals who choose to kneel during the anthem.
There’s no doubt that this movement has made an impact. The number of NFL players who had the courage to kneel during the national anthem will always be looked back on as the moment this movement became apparent.
I can’t help but wonder what could have been done if more people had the courage to kneel. So many protests across the country have gone ignored due to the lack of equality in our justice system.
I often think what would have happened if more people were willing to make a stand and wholesale nfl jerseys actively engage in this cause. Would the message have been spread further? Would we have seen more change in our society?
I cannot help but wonder. What if more people had the courage to take a knee?
