how many nfl teams have had an undefeated season

It’s impossible to talk about NFL teams and undefeated seasons without mentioning the Miami Dolphins from 1972! No other team in the entire league has had an undefeated season since then, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been any close calls. In 1985, wholesale nfl jerseys the Chicago Bears were 15-1, with the only loss coming in the last game of the regular season. In 2008, the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions both went to 13-0 before stumbling in their 14th games.

More recently, wholesale nfl jerseys the Denver Broncos had a chance to go 16-0 during the 2015 season, but fell to the Sains in Week 16. All these heartbreaking stories certainly make me wonder how many NFL teams have had an undefeated season since the Dolphins in 1972.

The answer isn’t quite as straightforward as you’d think. For starters, cheap jerseys from china the regular season for cheap nfl jerseys from china NFL teams has been extended cheap jerseys from china 14 to 16 games, so teams don’t play as many games as the Dolphins did back in ’72. Additionally, there has been so much player turnover over the past four decades that it’s almost impossible to compare teams.

Even with these two considerations, cheap nfl jerseys the numbers are still quite impressive. The Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots are both given credit for one undefeated season when they had a combined 19-0 record in 2007. The Baltimore Ravens also came close to a perfect season, going 18-1 after defeating the Eagles in Super Bowl XXXV.

Ultimately, I’d say it’s fair to give all three of these teams a share of the credit for having an undefeated season. The Colts and cheap jerseys from china Patriots in ’07, and cheap jerseys the Dolphins all the way back in 1972. None of these teams could have done it alone. All three of them had to make history together to get it done.

What about the other teams who made deep playoff runs, but didn’t win the Super Bowl? The San Francisco 49ers nearly ran the table in 1998 on their way to a 16-3 record, and the Carolina Panthers went 15-2 in the 2015 season before falling to the Broncos in the Super Bowl.

Obviously, both of these teams came close to having a perfect season, but it’s important to remember that they didn’t actually do it. The same goes for the Steelers, who were 14-1 in 2004 before losing in the AFC Championship. All of these teams deserve a tip of the cap, but unfortunately there’s only one undefeated team in NFL history.

I’m sure that many other teams have thought about having an undefeated season, but it’s no easy task. The Dolphins in ’72 are still the only team able to pull it off.
